Key Features
The Q Acoustics Q 5050 Floorstanding Speakers are the largest speakers of the 5000 series and are designed for use in stereo hi-fi or home cinema contexts. These speakers feature two Continuous Curved Cone (CCC) six-inch mid-bass drivers that originally debuted in the Concept range. By combining the strengths of flare and straight cone design, these speakers excel in delivering outstanding mid and bass qualities at this price level.
These CCC drivers symmetrically frame a hermetically sealed tweeter, which also takes design cues from the Concept range, featuring dome fabric and a compact neo-motor for precise and immersive high-frequency sound. The three drive units are mounted to, but well isolated from, front baffling. This black baffling can be found across all four colour variants of the 5050 speakers for stylish contrast. This pair comes with top-adjustable spikes and floor protection so you can level your speakers to a desired height without damaging delicate flooring.

"Q Acoustics' latest floorstanders deliver the sonic goods"
"The Q Acoustics 5050 are pleasingly mature sounding speakers that deliver impressive clarity and scale."
First seen in Q Acoustics’ flagship Concept speaker range and now brought to the 5000 series, the Continuous Curved Cone (CCC) design addresses limitations arising from straight and flared cones. Thorough multi-disciplinary research and development aimed to blend the most desirable characteristics of both the straight cone’s bass character and the flared cone’s mid-range control, computer modelling was used to create the CCC profile which best combined these traits. The result is a drive unit with superior dispersion, frequency, and amplitude linearity. Moreover, the CCC is more resilient to modulation from standing waves within the cabinet. Better, tighter bass with more dynamic range and detail means you can be more flexible with speaker placement and still achieve fantastic results.
The minimalist design of the 5050 Speakers is reminiscent of Q Acoustics' latest Concept Speaker series. Baffle fronts are laminated with a layer of butyl rubber and black acrylic trim, not only providing a damping layer to suppress baffle vibrations but also creating an eye-catching contrast to the surrounding satin or wood finishes. These cabinets, as the largest in the series, are constructed from 20mm MDF. Baffles across all models are made with 25mm HDF for greater durability. The lightweight open-frame grille design maximises transparency and is attached using bonded trim and magnetic fixings for an attractive visual and acoustic display. The tower models also come with top-adjustable and protective spike covers as a preventative measure against floor damage, making levelling simple.
Q Acoustics have equipped the 5040 and 5050 Floorstanding Speakers with HPE (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer) technology to address cabinet resonance issues which often plague taller loudspeakers. By converting pressure to velocity, this technology reduces the overall pressure gradient within the enclosure, which helps prevent the speakers from resonating at a single, problematic frequency. This attention to detail ensures more refined and distortion-free listening enjoyment when listening to the Q 5050.
The Q Acoustics 5050 Floorstanding Speakers have been meticulously engineered with P2P (Point-to-Point) Bracing technology. Unlike conventional bracing, P2P Bracing is tailored to support the specific areas of the enclosure that require stiffening without transferring unwanted energy or exacerbating cabinet structure modality. This ensures that the speakers are exceptionally rigid, thereby improving the focus of stereo imaging and giving the soundstage greater accuracy.
Q Acoustics' new 5050 Floorstanding Speakers feature modified second-order crossovers with a 2.5 kHz crossover point. All models in the 5000 series, including the 5050, have a nominal load impedance of 6 Ohms and use high-quality components in their crossover, including metallised polyester film capacitors, low saturation air core inductors, and bifilar wound wire-wound resistors to minimise parasitic inductance, resulting in exceptionally clear and accurate sound reproduction for an immersive listening experience.
