Key Features
The KEF R2 Meta Centre Speaker is an industry-leading bookshelf speaker which delivers immaculate audio quality for home theatre and hi-fi environments. Employing the latest 12th-generation Uni-Q drivers, bespoke conical waveguides and Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MATTM), these revolutionary speakers set the benchmark for bookshelf speakers to follow. Advanced cabinet design offers crystal clear audio with Shadow Flare design matched with Constrained Layer Damping for ultimate stability to reduce unwanted cabinet vibrations.
Delivering a powerful and clear sound, the KEF R2 Meta Centre Speaker's flexible bass port ensures you hear only what the speaker reproduces and not the unwanted resonances. Achieved through Computational Fluid Dynamic design, turbulence is effectively removed. Sound meets style as the KEF R2 Meta Centre Speaker's stripped-back and timeless aesthetic is suited to fit any home environment. Utilise the customised microfibre grilles to protect your speakers without worrying about interfering with the stunning audio quality.

A result of decades of research, the R series delivers sound with more detail and a deeper insight for exciting listening every time you experience it. This class-leading invention set the benchmark for speaker design to follow. The revolutionary Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MATTM) is integrated along with the latest Uni-Q driver for a refined performance.
A combination of 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with MATTM technology, the sound of the R Series is unrivalled. Enhanced for generation 12, the Uni-Q Driver's conical waveguide has been specifically designed for the bespoke drive found within the speaker. Add to this the re-engineered tweeter gap damper which places two rings of porous material, taming imperfections and resonances highly-effectively, thus greatly improving detail and clarity.
Originally designed for The Reference, the Shadow Flare reduces harmful cabinet diffraction, allowing the 12th-generation Uni-Q to work to its potential. Moving the tweeter, it no longer has line of sight to the cabinet edges, eliminating the 'shadow region' at the point where the potential for diffraction is highest. This results in improved clarity in the high frequencies for a thrilling audio experience.
Precision-designed bass drivers in the R2 delivers powerful and articulate bass frequencies. Built using a two-part structure, a shallow concave aluminium skin sits atop a paper cone, the cone's unique geometry combines with this rigid design to reduce unwanted resonances. The onboard driver magnet system creates a uniform magnetic field to reduce harmonic distortion across the low-end frequcnies for precise and powerful bass. The result is exceptionally deep and agile bass that reveals every last bit of detail and punch available in the deep.
Innoative flexible walls in the KEF R2 speaker means you hear only the drivers and not the unwanted resonances. Computational fluid dynamics is used to calculate each drivers profile and flare, effectively reduces the onset of turbulence whilst the flexible walls prevent longitudinal resonances from colouring the midrange.
Internal resonances can cause the speaker cabinet to vibrate, causing noise. Employing KEF's Constrained Layer Damping to work alongside the internal bracing, the KEF R2 ensures the cabinet stays inert by connecting the drivers cabinet. Transforming vibration into heat, the cabinet of the R2 Speaker is effectively silent, reproducing only the sound from the original source material.
Capable of being used as a centre speaker or in an LCR configuration, the KEF R2 is suitable for a wide range of home-listening environments. Identically sized Uni-Q arrays are deployed on the centre speakers and all other models in the series. This creates a consistent sound character, therefore ensuring that the focus is entirely on the film and not the equipment around the room.
Engineered for optimal performance with or without a grille, the microfibre grille are crafted from multiple layers of material with burnished edges for a suede-like feel. Perfect for prortecting your speakers, 1,801 precision-cut holes are used to help enhance the look of your speakers without effecting the sound quality.
