Experience stunning sound quality and cutting-edge technology with the Kanto Ora Powered Reference Desktop Speakers with Bluetooth in Black. As Kanto's first active speaker, each driver in ORA is individually powered and tuned, ensuring optimal performance.
Bi-amplified for exceptional audio reproduction, ORA splits the 50 W RMS class-D amplifier into four separate channels. Each tweeter receives 9 W of power, while each woofer benefits from 16 W, resulting in balanced and precise sound across the frequency range.
Unlike traditional crossovers that use analog electrical components, ORA utilizes full DSP (digital signal processing) to create its crossover points. This digital approach enables precise control over the frequency range being delivered to each driver, resulting in enhanced clarity and accurate sound reproduction.
Featuring 3/4" silk dome tweeters, ORA provides smooth and extended treble response for enjoyable and fatigue-free listening sessions. The carefully designed waveguide enhances ORA's vertical dispersion, ensuring that whether positioned upright or sideways, the sound remains consistently exceptional.
Despite its small size, ORA's 3" woofers deliver impressive low-end extension. During pre-production demos at tradeshows, ORA repeatedly impressed listeners with its rich bass response, often leading them to ask if a subwoofer was connected. While the option to add a subwoofer exists, ORA's powerful yet compact woofers may render it unnecessary in many setups.
The advanced DSP control extends to the sub-out port, which automatically filters out frequencies below 100 Hz with a steep 24 dB/octave slope when a subwoofer is connected. This intelligent feature allows ORA's 3" woofers to focus on midrange frequencies, reducing distortion and enabling the speakers to handle loud transients with greater precision.
Versatility is at the heart of ORA's design, with multiple input options to suit various audio sources. An RCA input is included for use with older gaming consoles or analog gear such as turntables or cassette players. The USB-C input provides a solid connection for bypassing the typically subpar onboard audio on PC or Mac, supporting up to 16 bit/48 kHz. Additionally, Bluetooth® 5.0 offers effortless connectivity with iPhone, Android, or smart home devices, ensuring a comprehensive solution for all your audio needs.
Convenience and ease of use are key features of ORA. The LED on the front of the speaker conveniently switches between Green for RCA, Yellow for USB, and Blue for Bluetooth®, indicating the selected input. The front knob serves multiple functions, allowing you to switch between inputs with a press, adjust volume with a twist, power off the speaker with a long press, and power it back on again with a simple press. The rear of the speaker features a 1/4"-20 hole for easy wall mounting or compatibility with speaker stands.
Despite its compact size, ORA delivers impressive sound quality. Only 25 percent larger in volume compared to the popular YU2, ORA offers significantly improved sound performance. Its narrow profile allows for easy placement under a monitor, ideal for ultrawide or dual monitor setups where space is limited. Compared to full-size studio monitors, ORA is a fraction of the size, making it a practical and compact choice for any studio or workspace.
Lastly, ORA incorporates magnetic shielding in the woofer design. Although this feature has become less common in modern speakers, it serves a niche purpose for retro gaming enthusiasts. Retro games were designed with the technology of their time, and the pixel shape, scan lines, and CRT monitors played an essential role in creating the unique art styles of these games. By placing ORA speakers directly beside a CRT monitor, retro gamers can experience every square wave and sawtooth in stunning detail, recreating the authentic retro gaming experience.
