Key Features
The Grado GS1000X Statement Headphones are wired open-backs, hand-assembled in Brooklyn, New York. They feature a combination of mahogany and ipe wood on the ear which blend to create a warm and robust sound. This, next to Grado's comfortable black G cushions and black leather headband, create an organic and retro visual statement. The GS1000X headphones feature Grado's new X series driver with improved power, weight, and overall efficiency. Being an open headphone means you'll hear all the detail from these drivers within the spaciousness of the G cushion. With a nominal impedance of 38 ohms, these headphones will pair excellently with a headphone amplifier for boosted source power.

From skilfully working with Mahogany for so long, Grado has become a master of the art. However, in a first for the brand, the GS1000X headphones combine Mahogany with Ipê; a tropical wood featuring a similar warm, earthy tone and good durability. Pairing these woods is not only pleasing from a visual perspective but also sonically. While Mahogany offers warmth to the sound, ipê grounds and controls sound as it passes through the wooden grains.
The GS1000X features new, larger 50mm ‘X’ speaker drivers which draw out warmth from the mahogany surround. This newly designed X driver makes its full-bodied headphone debut in the GS1000X showcasing improved magnetic circuitry, a lighter voice coil, and redesigned diaphragm. With such improvements in power, mass, and harmonic integrity, the GS1000X offers a highly efficient and sonically characterful listening experience.
Since 1953 Grado has hand-assembled headphones, making sure every pair is worthy of your ears. When John Grado assembled his first pair of wooden headphones in 1994, the material became integral to the company, which has worked with wood ever since. Today, out of Brooklyn, New York, the same love for hand assembly and woodwork sets the company apart from its competitors. These GS1000X headphones, while a great improvement upon their predecessors, retain the ethos and authenticity of the brand’s previous accomplishments.
