"It produces sound effects from movies just as easily as subtle classical works, playing everything in between with exceptional ease. This big DALI is capable of delivering deep and sturdy bass notes, next to an open, clear and a sweet top end that spreads wide without ever becoming sharp"..."If you have the space for the Rubicon 8 and you are willing to invest in suitable electronics, you might struggle to find another speaker that better these DALIs."

Rubicon 8 is the flagship floorstanding speaker of the Rubicon series. They will provide you with a mind blowing large sound stage and an impressive deep, physical bass. The three 6.5 inch drivers used in Rubicon 8 all work together to reproduce a clean, detailed sound with no colouration. This setup ads up to what in effect is a 2½+½+½-way construction, and generates an amazing range and impressive sound pressure. The Rubicon 8 is for those seeking the extraordinary in size and sound.
The gracefully elegant exterior of the Rubicon works as the base for the low loss drivers. In every cabinet, the mid-range and bass drivers are separated into their own chambers. Turbulence is minimized through a bass reflex port, which is placed directly behind every woofer, and the timing between the woofer and the bass port is thereby also optimized.
The cone used in the Rubicon series draws upon the heritage from the Epicon technologies, and has a light, rigid and randomly uneven structure. This lower the complexity of the central part of the motor, ensures even piston like movements, reduces the possibility of surface resonance greatly and creates an extremely low distortion within the Rubicon series. The soft low-loss rubber surround is designed and bespoke specifically for the Rubicon series, and all of the components are situated in an aluminium chassis designed for maximum airflow around the cone and magnet system.
All variants in the Rubicon series feature woofers with the 6.5-inch wood-fibre cones and the DALI SMC (soft magnetic compound) magnet motor system which reduces distortion as never heard before. The secret is the individually coated magnet granules that make it possible to mould a a strong magnet that’s not electrically conductive. The unique SMC magnet system and a reworked version of DALI's hybrid tweeter module work together, along with individual bass ports for each woofer, to produce audio exactly as the recording artist originally imagined it.
The Rubicon series makes use of both the soft dome tweeter working alone, and the hybrid tweeter configuration an amazing rendering of the high frequencies. The voice coil used in the Rubicon series is designed to be very light and agile in order to achieve a broader bandwidth. This lighter voice coil is placed inside a powerful ferrite magnet that keeps a tight control of its movements. The ribbon tweeter is the master of wide dispersion and combining it with the soft dome, the tweeter module starts working as low as 2.5 KHz. This extreme bandwidth combined with the ultra wide dispersion is an important part of the DALI sound philosophy.
