Key Features
The Debut PRO Turntable from Pro-Ject, which was released in celebration of the brand's 30th anniversary, is a new take on the original Pro-Ject Debut turntable range. While enhanced and modernised in many respects, the Debut PRO maintains its range’s reputation for audiophile quality at lower-than-expected costs.
The Debut PRO’s new features include an all-new tonearm which has been carried over from the more expensive X1 and X2 turntables. This new tonearm has increased adjustability and is compatible with a wider range of cartridges. Moreover, it’s platter has been re-designed with a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) ring for reduced resonance, wow, and flutter. An impressively precise, electronically controlled motor helps keep speed stable while a toggle switch and round belt contribute speed adjustability and 78 rpm respectively.
Ultimately, the Pro-Ject Debut PRO is an all-around high performer with quality enhancements added across the board. It is a dependable choice for audiophiles who enjoy hours of listening and expect a consistent performance from record to record.

"This is a sensational turntable for the asking price. It is a breeze to set up and live with and it delivers a level of performance I would not have easily granted the Debut platform"
"A superb sounding package that remains the top option for the money"
"The Pro is the most ambitious and capable Debut model yet. It’s right up there with the very best in the class."
The platter for the Debut PRO is the first of its kind to feature on any Pro-Ject turntable. Its improvements include a more even spin, anti-magnetic properties for MC cartridge compatibility, and a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) ring to dampen resonance while reducing wow and flutter. In other words, the Debut PRO really does offer up an improved world of music on its platter.
One of the most significant new features of the Debut PRO is its one-piece carbon-aluminium hybrid tonearm. This has been brought across to the Debut range from the more expensive X1 and X2 turntables; a sign of Pro-Ject bringing high-end quality into a mid-range price category. The carbon and aluminium bring strength and rigidity, and electrical shielding and sonic dampening to the tonearm respectively while remaining lightweight and easy to adjust. This high-end tonearm also boasts better cartridge compatibility meaning you can easily upgrade to different types and sizes of cartridge.
At the base of the new one-piece hybrid tonearm of the Debut PRO, you can easily adjust both azimuth and vertical tracking angle (VTA) with two grub screws. By doing so, your turntable can adapt to any mats you may place underneath, or to new cartridges you may wish to replace the included Pick IT Pro MM cartridge with. Being able to play around with these features is considered essential when fine-tuning the sound you want from a turntable.
The Pro-Ject Debut PRO has built-in speed control which works electronically for effortless precision. Switch between 33 and 45 speeds easily while the electronic motor keeps everything steady for higher accuracy. Play older 78 rpm shellac records too simply by switching to the larger drive belt. This fits around the larger part of the pulley system and lets you speed up the platter to 78 rpm.
Across the metal components of the Debut PRO, extra measures have been put in place to ensure longevity and stiffness. These measures involve nickel coating the aluminium and ultimately bettering their resistance. One component where this is especially notable is the tonearm bearing block. The bearing parts have been CNC milled and finished with nickel for quality down to every last detail.
