The Pro-Ject E1 Phono Turntable is the perfect entry-level option, featuring handcrafted design, premium components and an onboard phono preamplifier so you can connect directly to your amp or active speakers. This is switchable, meaning it is also compatible with existing external phono stages. The included lightweight tonearm is fitted with an Ortofon OM 5E Cartridge which has been factory-set for downforce and anti-skate settings so you can connect, play, and expect great quality sound straight out of the box. A sub-platter drive system keeps the internals of your system safe and also provides clean minimalist aesthetics, whilst the included cover allows you to protect your records from dust, splashes and spills.

The Pro-Ject E1 Phono Turntable is the middle of three models in Pro-Ject’s E1 turntable range. This model is a step above the E1 standard and a step below the E1 BT turntable in terms of specification and price. As the middle model, the E1 Phono adds an integrated phono stage but does not offer wireless transmission like the E1 BT does. If you’re looking for a turntable with great sound quality on a budget and can live without wireless capability, the E1 Phono is a great choice. As with both the E1 standard and E1 BT, the E1 Phono turntable comes in three finishes: glossy black, glossy white, and walnut. Each plinth is CNC-machined from composite fibres for accuracy and noiselessness respectively.
Ready to Plug and Play
Upon opening your E1 Phono package, you’ll find your new turntable partially assembled already. An 8.6-inch aluminium tonearm, designed to be lightweight with low friction, is pre-attached to the plinth. At the end of the tonearm, an Ortofon OM5E cartridge has been pre-adjusted for optimal tracking force and skating by vinyl experts at Pro-Ject, diligently handmaking their turntables in Europe. You’ll also find various accessories to help finish off the assembly of your turntable, details of which are listed in the below sections, as well as in the product manual and setup guide linked above.

In addition to a phono stage and pre-adjusted cartridge, the E1 Phono makes life easier with an electronic speed switch on the side of the plinth. This means that once you dive in, you can make speed adjustments in an instant. Jump between three different speeds without any hassle (33 RPM, 45 RPM, and On/Off). Pro-Ject, with a focus on budget-friendly turntables, have made no compromise on the quality of materials used in each component to ensure the best possible sound experience at this price point. As well as an anti-resonance composite fibre plinth, the turntable’s platter is made from ABS polymer, strengthened with ridges for resistance to impact and further anti-resonance properties.
