Few speakers have garnered such critical acclaim as the original Debut Series by ELAC. They established a new value proposition, with build quality and performance never before attainable at such an affordable price. Debut “changed the game,” and now it’s changed again with the Debut 2.0 Series—proof that ELAC can’t leave well enough alone. Redesigned from the ground up, they sound even more remarkable than the speakers that sparked the revolution in high-end sound.
Improving on its award-winning predecessor was no easy task, but the Debut B5.2 sets a yet higher standard, delivering performance in inverse proportion to its diminutive size. And it remains the best value in the world of affordable speakers, with sound that surpasses speakers many times the price.
Now available as a 5.1 pack, this package consists of 2 pairs of Debut B5.2 for the Front and Surround, a C5.2 for the Centre Channel and a SUB10EQ-3010 for the Subwoofer.
Recognizing that in a multi-channel system, the majority of sound comes through the centre speaker, we have optimized sensitivity and impedance to minimize the power requirement from the AV receiver, maximizing dynamic impact from lower-cost receivers.
A new silk-dome tweeter features a wide-roll surround and takes response up to 35,000 Hz for even more lifelike high frequencies. The waveguide improves directivity control and eliminates the diffraction modes inherent in traditional box enclosures.
The revised shape of the aramid cone offers even greater stiffness and damping, far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, extended low-frequency response.
BASH (Bridged Amplifier Switching Hybrid) amplifiers represent a “best of both worlds” solution for subwoofer amplification, combining the sound quality of Class AB with the efficiency of Class D amplifiers. While a Class AB amp uses fixed supply voltage regardless of input signal, BASH uses a modulated switched mode power supply that tracks the input signal, supplying only the necessary voltage to the Class AB amp as needed. The latest BASH technology has gone through three core evolutions and is further refined in these latest ELAC Debut subwoofers.
Custom long-throw drivers provide bass that is fundamental to accurately reproducing today’s demanding music and movie soundtracks. Both S10 and S10EQ 3010 subwoofers employ a 10-inch driver, while the S12EQ 3030 employs a 12-inch unit. Both the S10EQ 3010 and S12EQ 3030 also employ a single 10-inch and 12-inch passive radiator, respectively, which improves the transient response and increases the efficiency of the system.
Thick MDF cabinets with a luxurious black ash vinyl finish are larger, and internally braced for greater stiffness and strength, greatly reducing cabinet vibrations which cause unwanted coloration. On the Bookshelf and Center Channel, moving the bass port to the front of the cabinet means placement against walls or in bookshelves won’t compromise performance.
