Key Features
The Bowers & Wilkins 603 S2 Anniversary Edition Floorstanding Speaker celebrates 25 years since the launch of the 600 series by renowned British loudspeaker manufacturer and features the latest Continuum mid-range cone. This is accompanied by two dedicated bass drivers as well as a Decoupled Double Dome tweeter for a truly powerful and detailed sonic experience. The heritage of these speakers can be traced back to the B&W 800 Series Diamond Range, which are the speakers of choice by sound engineers at the legendary Abbey Road Studios for their accuracy and transparency. The three-way driver design of these floorstanding speakers offers a sense of scale and authority that is unmatched by its rivals.

“They are blessed with a wow factor that other speakers at this price can only dream of, especially with voices. And the listening experience just gets better, thanks to their wide soundstage, impressive sense of scale and insightful delivery.“
“Given the attentions of a muscular amp, there’s enough headroom to whip up a torrent of decibels and yet, in the teeth of the sonic storm seem as if it’s not trying. And all underpinned by that appealingly ‘architectural’ bass performance, which lends the speaker’s presentation so much presence and life.”
“The 603 S2 Anniversary is capable and satisfying, it’s well made and room friendly too. Bowers & Wilkins has leveraged their vast engineering know how to make a speaker with precious few flaws.”
Bowers & Wilkins have been a household name in HiFi for over 50 years. Over that time they have constantly tweaked and refined the capabilities of their loudspeakers, making true sound quality more accessible and, after six previous generations of the 600 Series, are celebrating 25 years of the range with the Anniversary Edition. The 603 S2, as with the rest of the series, is inspired by technologies used for their reference flagship speakers, the 800 Series Diamond range—the speakers partnered with Abbey Road Recording Studios for their high-end fidelity.
It's not just upgraded transducers that make a quality speaker. The capability of its internal circuitry is a key hurdle in producing lively musicality. As such, the engineers at Bowers & Wilkins have taken cues from the design of their 700 Signature range and implemented upgraded bypass capacitors and carefully selected components into the 603 S2 to ensure an improved level of detail. B&W’s goal is to maintain the truest level of transparency possible, ensuring that their speakers can be relied upon time after time.
The 603 S2 Anniversary Edition, as the only floorstanding speaker in the 600 range, has been designed to make an impact. As the leader of your surround sound speaker setup or the showpiece of your large stereo HiFi system, these speakers stand around a metre tall. The three-way design consists of a 25mm aluminium tweeter, a 150mm Continuum cone FST midrange and two dedicated 165mm paper bass drivers. These are supported by a rear-facing bass reflex, the Flowport™, which uses a dimpled design to reduce drag on air leaving the cabinet.
The Decoupled Double Dome is an innovation that raises the effective breakup point of the tweeter to 38kHz. The performance of the 600 Series tweeter has been analysed by Bower & Wilkins to identify key points of stress during use. Fine layers of lightweight materials such as aluminium have then been implemented to improve strength whilst also keeping mass to a minimum. The tweeter itself is also decoupled from the cabinet to diminish the effects of reverberation from the larger drivers.
The six-inch midrange is differentiated from the two bass drivers by its eye-catching colour. This is no mere aesthetic choice, but the difference in its pioneering material. Replacing the classic yellow Kevlar, Continuum—which originally made its debut in the 800 Series—has been used for its precision musicality, an essential for floorstanding speakers. FST™ (Fixed Suspension Transducers) benefit from superior separation from cabinet vibrations, meaning you can push further with the same musical purity.
Making full use of the upgraded crossover section, the three-way design is augmentation by two 6.5” bass drivers. The paper cones are integral to the rigidity needed to withstand the immense kinetic energy exerted during play, whilst still maintaining responsiveness. As a result, the Bowers & Wilkins 603 S2 instils a superb sense of weight no matter what you’re listening to, with a frequency range reaching as low as 28Hz. Deliver highly controlled bass with the combination of excellent extension and extreme accuracy
